ELCA Congregations Lend Their Hands In Service to Their Communities
Grand Forks, North Dakota (ELCA) — The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
congregations in the Grand Forks County are providing an opportunity to participate in “God’s
work. Our hands,” on Wednesday, October 9 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Grand Forks Town Square.
Members of Augustana, Calvary, Christus Rex, Evanger, Northwood, Sharon, St. Mark’s, St.
Matthew’s, University, United, Walle, and Washington Lutheran congregations in Grand Forks
County are proud to be hosting an event with three projects in mind:
● A nonperishable food and personal hygiene collection that will benefit St. Joe’s Food
Pantry
● Making school supply kits that will be donated to Lutheran World Relief for distribution
● Writing thank you notes that will be delivered to first responders and healthcare workers.
“This day of service is so important to visibly demonstrate the unseen work that congregations
do all year round,” said Pr. Jared Carson, of Calvary Lutheran Church.
“We love Grand Forks and the people here. We are so excited to welcome members, friends,
and neighbors to participate in this event, which will make a positive impact in the greater Grand
Forks community, “ said Pr. Jo Gast, Augustana Lutheran Church.
